Deidsclay is a family owned and operated small business specializing in small batch pots for daily use.
How it all started
I was a junior in college when I made something out of clay for the first time. I made a vase. Who knows where that vase is today but I’ve made countless objects since then. I love making pots that people can use and enjoy in their homes. But also, I just really, really like creating things out of clay.
When I was in college and was debating about whether or not I should take the plunge and change my major to art I really struggled. My realistic self kept saying there was no money in art and that few could make a go at it.
But I prayed about it. I prayed about it a lot. And I felt like God told me that He was an artist and He understood why I loved it so much. I was like… “Yes Lord!!… That is so true” and then somehow it was okay. Plus he told me all the lawyers, dr.’s and big money makers here would be out of work in heaven but that I’d still have a job.
Call me crazy but I believed Him. There have been a few moments here and there that I’ve thought maybe I should have gone a different course but clay is always there calling me back.
Well, I turned 40 and was just doing it sort of half way up until that point. My husband and I decided it was time to take the plunge. My hubby is my rock… He supports me so much and he told me I needed to go for it.
We finished the studio and here we are; A wife to an amazing man, mom of two sweet girls and potter by night. What could be better?

Values
Quality
Each mug is made with care and a whole lotta love. You’ll definitely know that they are handmade as each one is unique and one of a kind but that by no means takes away from the quality of the product produced.
Unique
This may sound like a cliché term but these mugs truly are one of a kind because a majority of the time I only make one. So the mug you buy will be a unique, one of a kind, purchase.
Education
I do have my Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis in ceramics… That being said, I am basically obsessed with clay so it was my only option in school. There’s just nothing like the process of making a mug.
Socially Responsible
Clay in and of itself is pretty socially responsible. It’s been around since… well… pretty much forever. It’s hard to get much more responsible than that.
